The DB Music Player
Dan began writing music at a very early age. From making tapes to performing at various social functions, his popularity grew and was eventually approached by various producers and labels about making a professional CD. Although he had most of the songs written, he wanted to experiment with adding drums or a bass guitar into his tracks to make them more diverse.
Dan learned through the grapevine that one of his friends knew a really amazing drummer looking for a side project. Dan approached Steve Govern and the duo was magic. They began working very hard to finish up writing all the aspects of the songs before hitting the studio during the summer of 1998. Just before the road trip, the band encountered a solo guitarist who was interested in adding a little flare to the music and the band added Grant Glover. Although Taka Yanagita made a short stint with OFFKEY, he was in Japan the summer of the recording and is not featured on their album. The boys spent a month in good old Guelph Ontario recording "Presence of Mind". Even though the CD was recorded when Dan was 14, the band spent most of their time playing shows and working very hard. Eventually Dan came up with the money two years later, in 2000, for its release. Shortly after, Steve Govern left for South America, and Grant Glover left the state. OFFKEY was featured on many news stations, newspapers, and on the radio.
After the break up of OFFKEY, Dan Bryant returned to the stage as a solo act. With the success of his first CD, Presence of Mind, there was a lot of pressure to release another album. Although he liked the way his first CD was done, Dan really wanted to add many more elements to fill out his music. He chose to add a symphony orchestra. Dan wrote out about 50 tracks, all of which only 28 finally appear on his "Inner Sanctum Film Sessions" CD. Some are piano solos, some pure orchestration, some a blend of symphony and piano, and some even with some rock grooves and pop aspects. Bryant spent two years composing, writing, and scoring all the music for his second CD. Bryant performs all the instruments you hear on the CD other than the orchestra. "Inner Sanctum Film Sessions" was released just before his departure to Sweden for two years.
Although he was doing piano at the same time, Bryant tried to hone in on his multi-instrumentalist skills. He founded a rock group called "Kustom Built". The band got it's ties from early Linkin Park, Deftones, Staind, and Adema. Bryant performed the Drums, and wrote most of the guitar, bass, and vocal parts as well. The band played at various clubs and bars, school events, and recorded a short demo called "Sick of IT All".
Upon his return to the United States, Dan worked on a solo project for his younger brother Jonathan who had a bunch of acoustic guitar songs he wanted made into full length tracks playable by a band. Dan wrote and performed most of the music heard on the album with Jonathan performing the vocals and main acoustic guitar. After Dan had written the rest of the instruments, a band was formed to perform the songs live. The Foreground released a CD called, "Under the Influence". It is available on iTunes and at www.theforeground.com. The CD sounds like Something Corporate.
Dan Bryant is once again a solo artist working on NEW MUSIC!!!
